Flush Your Water Heater

Why You Need To Flush My Hot Water Heater

You may not realize how important your hot water is to your household until something goes wrong with it. You want to make sure that your water heater is working at all times because you will not be able to get it replaced fast enough when something happens to it. Have you ever tried to take a cold shower? Well, it is not pleasant, and we do not want you to have to take one anytime soon.

Your water heater needs maintenance, just like almost everything else in your household. You may have heard that you need to flush your water heater every so often, and it is true. About every 12 months is about the time that you should be flushing your water heater, and we are going to explain why below.

Sludge Removal

  • We call it sludge that will settle at the bottom of your tank over time, causing your hot water not to work as effectively as it should. Draining the tank of all its water will help remove these sediments from the tank and help prolong the life and effectiveness of your hot water heater.

How Often Should I Flush The Water Heater?

  • If your home has one or two people residing inside the home, then you will want to flush your water heater every 12 months.
  • If your home has three to five people residing inside the home, then you will want to flush your water heater every eight months.
  • If your home has six or more people residing inside the home, then you will want to flush your water heater every six months.
