Water Softener

Signs That You May Need A Water Softener

Do you know what hard water is, and what it does to your home and body?

A water softener can help your plumbing lines last a lot longer, along with your clothing, and can do wonders for your hair and skin. If you notice stains in your toilet, dishwasher, shower heads or sink faucets, then you may require a water softener. Also, if you are suffering from dry skin or hair, then you may also have a problem with hard water that can be fixed with a water softener.

Also, if you are noticing any of these signs and have a water softener installed, you may want to give us a call as it may not be set up correctly or may be malfunctioning.

What Is Hard Water?

Hard water is water that has extra calcium and magnesium ions in it. A lot of places in the United States have this problem, which is why you will see water softeners for sale in your local home improvement stores.

How Does A Water Softener Fix Hard Water?

Water softeners will replace the calcium and magnesium ions with sodium and potassium ions. A water softener will take the water in your home, and run a cycle called “recharging” which is where it will exchange the ions and redistribute the water in your home. It is important to call us and discuss this as a water softener can use up to 25 gallons of water per day, so you want to make sure that your settings are correct, so you are not wasting any water.

Things That Will Tell You If You Have A Hard Water Problem

Noticing Scale Build-Up

If you notice scale buildup in places like your dishwasher, coffee pot, or washer machine, then the chances are that you have hard water. Also, you will notice white stains on your shower heads and sink faucets. This build-up can cause your plumbing lines to become clogged and make water difficult to pass in your home.

Dry Hair or Skin

If you notice that your skin and hair is so dry that you begin to itch on a regular basis, then the chances are that you have hard water.
